Award winners reach UK and European finals

Two partner members of North of England Excellence have won through to the finals of the European and UK Excellence Awards

Wakefield and District Housing (WDH), which won the Business of the Year title at the North of England Excellence Awards in 2008 and won the UK Excellence Award in 2010. It is now in the finals for the 2013 European Excellence Awards.

Meanwhile the service which Liverpool Direct runs on behalf of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has reached the finals of the UK Excellence Awards.

A joint venture between Liverpool Council and BT, Liverpool Direct was set up in 2001 to transform council services. It now serves over 350 organisations including the SIA, the licensing body responsible for regulating the private security industry. The SIA service won Liverpool Direct a North of England Excellence Award in 2012.

David Teale, Chief Executive of North of England Excellence, said: “Both of these organisations have built on their success in the North of England Excellence Awards. They have taken on board feedback from assessors, which is always one of the biggest benefits of taking part in the awards, and used it to further enhance their performance and aim even higher. We wish them every success in the finals.
